HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

May the 10th is the day that we celebrate our mother's. In ancient cultures, origins of Mother's Day goes back to the era of the ancient Romans and Greeks. The Greeks celebrated this day in honor of Rhea, wife of Cronus and the mother of many deities of Greek mythology. The Romans celebrated a spring festival, called Hilaria in honor of Cybele who was the mother goddess. So, we have been celebrating this special day for many centuries.

If we explore mothers (the feminine) in the Chinese philosophy, you will discover the yin and the yang. These represent opposite principles and are the foundation of the entire universe. Yin represents the feminine principle, the moon, female, completion, material forms and the creative. Yang represents the masculine, the sun, creation, male, heat, light and heaven and taking the creative out into the world. Each one of us have both the feminine and the masculine aspects and we display these at different times.

I believe Mother's Day can be every day and we can celebrate the gift of our lives and express gratitude for this wonderful gift and journey. So, take a moment to express unconditional love and give from your heart and soul.

This year my mum and I are going to relax on Mother's Day, maybe do some gardening and enjoy the outdoors with a barbecue. My husband (who is amazing) and my son (again brilliant!) always pamper us and take the extra time to spend this special day together. Scrabble will also be in the works and a cup of tea for my mum and goodies (the British way!)

I wanted to share this beautiful disney video below that says it all - LOVE and "that's the way it is!" This encompasses motherhood for me, always believing in you; helping you find your way; knowing you can win; always there for you and LOVE.

So, again Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers in the world! Also, take the time to celebrate Mother Earth and all the beautiful gifts she gives us every day. Nurture all these relationships and see them bloom and grow.
